Attorney Richard H. Oldroyd has been serving the public for the last twenty-four years as a police officer. He began his career in law enforcement working as a reserve police officer in 1990. In 1991 he attended the Massachusetts Criminal Justice Training Council Recruit academy in Needham, MA and was appointed as a full time patrolman upon graduation. He worked for many years in the traffic enforcement unit, where his primary duties were investigating serious motor vehicle accidents and enforcing the traffic laws. In 2001, he was promoted to sergeant and spent several years as a patrol supervisor. In 2002, he was selected to be a firearms instructor for his department and was certified as a Municipal Police Firearms Instructor by the FBI, after completing their rigorous course of instruction. In 2003, he was certified as a MPTC Defensive Tactics Instructor. In 2012, he was certified by the Taser Corporation and the MPTC as a Taser Electronic Control Device Instructor.    

While working full time as a police officer and raising a family, he attended Western New England College earning a Bachelor's Degree in Law Enforcement. He then went on to earn his Juris Doctor from Massachusetts School of Law and was admitted to the Massachusetts Bar.  Attorney Oldroyd is also admitted to the First District of Massachusetts Federal Court.
